The Albergheria and Ballarò districts

Leaving ‘l’Ottagono del Sole’, or the Quattro Canti, we follow the two main arteries of the city: Via Maqueda and Corso Vittorio Emanuele. We then reach Piazza Indipendenza and the Palazzo dei Normanni: an architectural masterpiece further enhanced by the Cappella Palatina, Palermo’s sacred jewel and a eulogy to Byzantine art. Next, San Giuseppe dei Teatini and the colourful Ballarò market.
